I reminiscence some incidents and key decisions made by the Bricsys management and tech teams. A decade back, probably around 2009, when Erik de Keyser and his team set out to build the BricsCAD platform as a stand-alone (they were leaving IntelliCAD at that time), they started off with building the APIs first for the commands and features they intended to create, and the user-interface and the actual dwg feature followed later. In other words, right from day one, Bricsys programmers had portability and a deeper level of compatibility in mind, than just offering a user-level feature. Today, this very premise is proving to be the key competition differentiator in closing a sale, especially with large accounts where heavy duty drawings, automated processing, ARX/BRX/.NET is par for the course..
