Munich, Germany
On Day 2 of the Bricsys Conference, we have all gathered here at the BMW Welt, all of around ~500 people or so.
CEO Erik de Keyser starts off with a quick brief of where the .dwg and AEC platforms are heading, a recap of stuff that we have heard before.
"When observing CAD evolving over the years, we can see patterns emerging", says Mr. Keyser.
Some of the important trends we see today:
- SaaS is a prerequisite for collaboration
- Connects team members with other teams
- Manage documents, data and models
- Automates recurring processes
- Must be open for any system.
"Cloud collaboration is not optional. It is mandatory and going to be the new norm sooner than later", says Erik de Keyser.
"Cloud is not just for data storage. Posting, Sharing and processing of CAD models in the cloud is the new way to managing data. Point Cloud is here to stay and on the radar." explained Erik.
Talking about the industry verticals, Erik made some key observations about the BIM and MCAD segments and how Bricsys sees technology moving in that direction.
"IFC certification is a pre-requisite for every BIM player and BricsCAD V17 makes a major move in this direction", said Erik.
"We are fully IFC certified for data export since last Friday and also member of BuildingSmart, and soon going for CoBie certification."
On the MCAD side, we are doing the same and offering 2D & 3D integration, and manage materials, model and geomtery data, all within the .dwg plaform.
Finally, we see a "Made with BricsCAD" movie that showcases some of the applications that run under BricsCAD.
