Next up is the much-awaited BricsCAD BIM announcement. We are watching a 10-minute video that shows how a steel-and-concrete building structure is easily built, edited and visualized using some of the new BIM tools.
BricsCAD is perhaps the first BIM software to be built on the ACIS solids modeling technology.
Because it is .dwg based, all existing .dwg applications are automatically compaible with BricsCAD BIM from day one.
Following the video, Pieter Clarysse is up on stage with a live demo where he is putting up a complete 3d model of a building in about 30 minutes or so.
He begins bu using the new POLYSOLID command to create simple wall geomtery.
The QUAD menu is used to transform this 2d wall into a 3d structure. The QUAD has special options to support direct modeling based push-pull operations that are customized for BIM. Architectural modelers can use 3d wall construction tool straight off the QUAD when working with the POLYSOLID command.
The new Control-key enabled dimension editing comes in handy here to enter accurate dimensions.
The POLYSOLID entity creates the first line of 3d forms for architectural models. Smart tools to stitch togteher adjacent surfaces and heal them together (for example, fusing adjacent roof slopes) allows the model to be built quickly. Intuitive snapping using new V15 keyboard inputs, precision inputs using Ctrl-key widget, constraints driven drawing and editing are some of the key tools to create 3d geomtery leading to a BIM model.
Adjacent roof slopes are intelligently stitched together.

Concluding the presentation, Erik said the BIM journey has just begun. "This is V1 of BIM. We will certainly head towards to a full-fledged BIM soon".
