Bangalore, India
DesignSense Software Technologies, the pan-India distributor of BricsCAD conducted its first ever formal induction and reseller training conference in Bangalore on July 3rd, 4th and 5th at the Best Western Premier La Marvella Hotel.
The event was attended by BricsCAD resellers and channel partners from Bangalore, Belgaum, Hubli, Kolhapur, Goa, Pune, Mumbai, Valsad and Vapi (Gujarat).
This is our first formal training and networking event for the reseller community in India, since DesignSense took over BricsCAD distribution in India.
The agenda for the event included detailed product demonstrations covering BricsCAD, CADPower, GeoTools and LightWorks Artisan. These are some of the products wholly owned and/or distributed by DesignSense Software Technologies.
Resellers and their tech support/sales employees interacted with DesignSense management and sales / support staff.
Challenges in each of the reseller geographies as well as success stories were shared and it was a collective learning experience for all.
At the end of the first day's event, Mark Van den Bergh, COO of Bricsys addressed the India resellers through video-conferencing and shared some of the large success stories of Bricsys in geographies like Japan, Europe etc.
Day 1: Audience in rapt attention - Sales Training module
Detailed technical presentations on BricsCAD and CADPower were shown on Day 2 of the event. The DesignSense offer of BricsCAD offer was clearly differentiated by a solutions-driven combination of BricsCAD + CADPower.
We demonstrated some of the key tools like Bill of Materials / Quantities generation, drawing productivity and collaboration tools in BricsCAD and CADPower.
The Linux initiative:
There is a large interest from Belgaum industry captains about using Linux as an alternative OS. We demoed BricsCAD on Linux, on a Mint 17 (ubuntu-based) 64-bit operating system.
For the first time, we also showed a beta version of CADPower running on Linux. Thanks to the continuous support and help from Bricsys (especially Torsten Moses and Tijs Vermuelen), we are pleased to announce that CADPower will soon be available on Linux as a public release. We are hoping to announce this on or before the Bricsys 2014 User conference in Barcelona, Spain in October this year.
BricsCAD (and CADPower) comes to Apple OS X
Yet another first during this event was that we showed an early-beta version of BricsCAD for Mac, and also had CADPower running on it in an alpha-mode. The claims of platform-neutral code compatibility was further proven when the entire code-base of Lisp on which CADPower is written ran in a Mac without any change.

The event was covered almost live on our twitter as well as on facebook channels.
Quotable quotes from our notable resellers
At the end of the event, we summarized some of the conversations, musings and key notes from participants.
"The plastics industry employs the highest number of people after the railways. This industry needs optimization in cost and delivery time. Use of an advanced yet easy to use, familiar looking design software will reduce time to market and a lean design. The BOM tools in CADPower will reduce considerable time and errors using manual calculators and enable speedy review of multiple design configurations." said Mr. Subba Bangera, CEO of ActiveSolutions, Mumbai, and a veteran plastics industry professional.
"BricsCAD is the next-generation CAD solution that people have been waiting for. It blends the simplicity of CAD of yesteryears, and the modernity and innovation that is required in today's business world."said Ms. Smita Bangera, VP-Training and Sales, at ActiveSolutions.
"BricsCAD takes torture with ease, does not buckle and crash under pressure of large data. I liked the way it handled multi-megabyte drawings with ease. And the most important of all, no 2D CAD system other then BricsCAD gives automatic BOM and tabulated output is multiple formats", said Mr. Ravi Bangera, Planning Engineer, Hilden Packaging Private Limited.
“Training together as a team and collective motivation is what drives us to do more. That is exactly what was achieved after attending the DesignSense hosted event in Bangalore" said Mr. Sujit Hukkerikar, ADIS Technologies, reseller, Belgaum region.
“BricsCAD is a powerful .dwg CAD platform. The additional suite of products shown to us like CADPower, CADProfi & Lightworks Artisan offer great value for money. Jyst like the core platform BricsCAD, its add-on products also are rightly priced, true-value solutions" said Mr. Siddhu Jolad, CEO of RadCAM Technologies, local reseller from Bangalore. "BricsCAD has every potential to become world’s number one .dwg CAD platform".
"The training sessions helped me to understand why BricsCAD is the REAL choice of architects. Coming from a mechanical engineering background, the power-demos helped me understand conceptual design, 2d drafting, detailing as well as rendering with LightWorks. I now have a new cap to wear while talking architects" said Nihit Sand, MechSIM Technologies, the face of BricsCAD in Pune.
"BricsCAD's is a native dwg compatible software that runs on Microsoft and Linux, which is great. I liked the way large data files were opened live and shown to us. I am a tech-support person, and interacting with the tech support team (Rajesh Celestine) of DesignSense and looking at the back-end online tech support gave me immense confidence" said ActiveSolutions, Mumbai-based Rohit Jagtap.
DesignSense Software would like to thank all the participants as well as its own employees for their help in making this event successful.
