BricsCAD V 14.05 introduced a new Settings Preference called RunAsLevel that allows BricsCAD to run in a lower level of license than what was purchased. I was wondering why a commercial end-user would want this feature, but I soon managed to figure out a use for this when one of our Platinum users called asking to buy additional licenses. They were contemplating adding new seats but did not want to invest in Platinum, and wanted to evaluate Pro and Classic versions. This new feature came in handy for their evaluation.
This is how you do it:
GoTo Settings dialog box and click/open the System tree. You will find Run as license level near the bottom of the list. You can choose from the options, Classic, Pro or Platinum depending on your highest level of license. Change youl level of licensing, restart BricsCAD and you will be able to review the features contained in that level.
For me, as a developer, this is a very useful tool to switch between different levels and test my application's compatibility with the different flavors of BricsCAD.
