Many of BricsCAD third party developers are also supplying technology that is part of BricsCAD itself. Next on the podium is JETCAM systems, a company which specializes in sheet metal for aerospace and automotive industries, covering punching, profiling, routing and knife cutting technologies. BricsCAD V14 sheet metal module is based on JetCAM technology.JETCAM was founded in 1986 to develop and market software systems for computer numerical control programming of punching and cutting machines used in sheet metal fabrication and composite cutting. It was started as a response to the time consuming and error-prone practices then being used for this work and the guiding principles of the company.
Sheet metal is not my cup of tea but this is what I understand from the presentation.
Sheet metal is unfolding of the 3d model from BricsCAD. The next step is called nesting which is placing of paths on the model for the model to be cut. Next comes tooling and then generation of NC codes for the machine to cut the part. JetCAM automates this complete process by providing tools to handle all of these.
