In CAD detailing, it is often required to show descriptive notes or measurements adjacent to a line at its intersection with other lines. For example, you may want to show the layer names, descriptions or interval distances along a cross-sectional line cutting across a road network. This week, we will show how you can do this in GeoTools using the GT_CREATEANNOT command.
You can find the GT_CREATEANNOT command under the Annotation Tools. Upon starting the command, you can see a dialog box which looks like this:
If you choose to use Layer-based annotations, you can specify descriptions for each layer. Once you have specified the layer descriptions, they can be saved and retrieved for future use from ASCII INI files. If you want to use existing layer names (and not provide descriptions), that is possible as well, as you can see from the dialog box options.
