Brisbane
Queensland, Australia
Coordinate Systems-Bangalore along with Bricsys, Australia put up a joint stand at the 12d.com user conference in Brisbane from March 7 to 9 at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Gregory Lee, the CEO of 12d.com is a firm believer in Bricscad software and has been kind enough to let us share space with other 12d.com partners and we showed off Bricscad V10 and GeoTools for Bricscad / AutoCAD at the conference which was well attended by over 400+ delegates from the civil engineering and survey industry, mainly from Australia and New Zealand.
I was at this event in Brisbane along with Damian Harkin of Bricsys, Australia. Damian owns a business by name Sofoco Pty Ltd, which trades as Bricsys, Australia. This has been a great opportunity for us and the response has been simply excellent. We realized that there is much greater awareness now for Bricscad as a growing # 1 alternative to mainstream, old-guard CAD software like AutoCAD and Microstation. The event was a good opportunity for us to tell the people what Bricscad is and what it is not, and to dispel some old ideas and notions. The fact that Bricscad is now free of IntelliCAD dependency and charging ahead on its own steam and the native Linux version of Bricscad that is round the corner increased the curiosity and interest factor many time over. We had many serious enquiries and one-to-one discussions with interested CAD users.
In summary, the following features were of very special and unique interest to delegates here that made Bricscad stand apart from other IntelliCAD clones and with AutoCAD itself.
- Support for ECW and Mr.SID files
- Huge growing number of add-on applications (including our GeoTools, there are 125+ now)
- Support for attaching multiple geo-referenced images
- Support for Linux OS now and MacOs hopefully in the coming year(s)
At the end of the show, we had a lucky draw to give away a FREE license of Bricscad Pro V10 + GeoTools V11 and the luck y winner was Brian Ward of Robson Engineering.
In the picture above, Brian Ward is in the center and Damian Harkin is on the left and I am on the right.
Incidentally, Brian is one person highly interested in Bricscad and GeoTools. I was giving a demo of GeoTools running under Bricscad when Damian came up to me and announced who the lucky winner was, after the lot was drawn by one of the 12d.com employees, Debbie Ginns. And to our surprise, the lucky winner happened to be right there with us trying to know more about the combo meal, GeoTools+Bricscad.
