Managing attributes in congested drawings is always a time-consuming and arduous task. Often, you come across situations when attributes need to be moved around or rotated individually to a certain angle for aesthetic or readability reasons. The existing tools to do the same in AutoCAD or Bricscad are not really intuitive and have scope for improvement. And that gap is what we have attempted to fill with these new commands in GeoTools.
You can now accomplish this task much more easily in GeoTools using three new tools that have just been introduced in version 10.02. The GT_ATTMOVE, GT_ATTROTATE and GT_ATTUPRIGHT are meant for pick-and-place attribute editing.
First, some background info: In AutoCAD and Bricscad, moving attributes is done by first clicking on the block, enabling the grips and then click on the attribute grip and move to the desired location. This involves three clicks and more DWG congestion (when grips getting highlighted) and possibility of picking the wrong grip. In contrast, the GT_ATTMOVE asks you to pick the attribute directly and moves it to the desired location. Only 2 picks and no grips to deal with.
The GT_ATTROTATE command (see above how an attribute is rotated in place) offers you a two-pick tool to rotate attributes individually on the screen.
This is just one of the 250-odd small miracles you can perform in Bricscad and AutoCAD with a small add-on called GeoTools. And all put together, this represents one giant leap in using CAD to a much higher level of productivity.
